Viva La Vida

August 22, 2010 at 7:34 am (friends, life!, music, movies)

so church worship this morning went pretty okay. actually it went more then okay, considering that we only managed a single practice the night before, and both my violins kept going out of tune a few minutes after play. i had to turn to the classical after it proved the more reliable of the two, and even that didn’t go without a hitch as i still had to tune it in-between and during play itself. guess that’s what happens when you let the violin collect dust for years.

the only time we got everything perfect was during the service itself; i even found time to use the cymbals inadvertently (albeit just at the right moment) as the drum set was so close to me that my bow hit it on the way up.

still got to play the electric violin in the end though, as we had our first ever jamming session after that! Luke was on piano, Ray on keyboard, Andrew and Jared on guitar, and we had drums too as well as a couple of vocalists. motley crew indeed.

our first cover was Viva La Vida by Coldplay – it’s really neat when you get the various instruments all kicking in at the right moment. and then we goofed around abit and started playing Taylor Swift songs like You Belong With Me and Love Story. we even considered playing Baby by Justin Bieber for a moment. just for a moment.

anyway we’ve already decided on doing our own covers of Mr Brightside and Starlight next time we meet (hopefully sometime before i fly). the electric guitar back home in London is starting to look really appealing again. can’t wait to get my hands on it.
